Start here for the best Dog Friendly Vacation Homes in Lake Tahoe

Not all Tahoe rentals actually welcome your dog. We built our collection with that in mind — five dog-friendly homes, each with the space, yards, and trails to make the trip as great for your pup as it is for you.

The Best Dog-Friendly Vacation Rentals in Lake Tahoe

Planning a Lake Tahoe getaway with your dog? You're not alone.

The challenge? Finding a Tahoe vacation rental that actually welcomes dogs. Not just tolerates them — but has the space, the yard, and the surroundings to make the trip great for your pup too.

That's exactly what we had in mind when we built the Modern Mountain Vacations collection. Four of our Tahoe homes are officially dog-friendly, each one thoughtfully suited to a different kind of dog owner. Here's how to find your perfect match.

What to Look for in a Dog-Friendly Tahoe Rental

Before you book, it's worth thinking beyond the pet policy. The best dog-friendly vacation rentals in Tahoe offer a few key things: outdoor space to run, easy access to trails or green areas, and a layout that doesn't make you anxious every time your dog shakes off after a swim. Our homes check all of those boxes — and then some.

Our Dog-Friendly Lake Tahoe Homes

Guests and their dogs have walked to the lake, hit the local coffee shop, and come back happy and tired. This one books fast, so don't wait.

🧡 Echo View Chalet — South Lake Tahoe, CA

Best for: The adventure dog (and their outdoorsy humans)

Tucked behind massive boulders and bordering the forest, Echo View has serious wow-factor — and so does the yard. Throw endless snowballs in winter, hike down to Sawmill pond in summer, and spend evenings on the back deck watching the sun drop behind Mt. Tallac, curled up with your pup.

🖤Tahoe Black Cabin— South Lake Tahoe, CA

Best for: The dog who lives for forest walks

Tucked directly across from the forest on a quiet South Lake Tahoe street, Black Cabin is a dream for dogs who need to run. Trails are steps from the front door, and Heavenly Ski Resort is just down the road for the humans. After a big day out, come home to a cozy cabin with an electric fireplace, an extra-long couch, and a vibe that says we're not going anywhere tomorrow.

Best for: The dog who appreciates the finer things
