Welcome to Stuga '66, by Modern Mountain Vacations. A classic 1966 A-frame lovingly restored into a modern day oasis. Located just 2 miles north of Tahoe City, just south of Dollar Hill, Stuga '66 is the perfect basecamp for exploring all of Tahoe and then coming home to your lakeview oasis to enjoy the saltwater hot tub under the stars.

This is our private home (not an investment property), filled with cherished things so please be respectful and treat everything with care.

- 1966 newly remodeled, 1,800 SqFt, 3 BR / 2 BA, A-frame cabin; located on a corner lot, with lake and mountain views. Flat driveway, flat entrance, no steps outside.

- fully loaded kitchen, two new bathrooms, plus all new furniture, sheets, and towels.

-New in spring of 2022: We've just installed a dual zone mini split system to add Air Conditioning to the upstairs primary bedroom and the main living area downstairs. We also added retractable shades to our large bay windows to aid in keeping you at the perfect temperature this summer!

- Sleeping arrangements:

BR #1 (upstairs) = King bed.

BR #2 (main floor) = Queen bed.

BR #3 (main floor) = 1 twin bunkbed (sleeps 2).

- Oversized deck with lake and mountain views, includes outdoor lounge area, outdoor dining area, and “deck games” (includes: Corn Hole, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four). Games are not available during snowy months.

- Saltwater hot tub

-Mini split AC

-Please note that you are staying in a home, not a hotel, and our housekeeper charges a set rate because our guests leave the house similar to how they found it so her team can come in to sanitize, clean, and make it perfect for you each and every time. We have a short list of tidying tasks that we ask you to complete before checkout. Nothing crazy, but we like to be upfront about it. We just ask that you clean and put away the dishes you use, take out the kitchen trash that you made, place used towels in the bathtub, leave the beds unmade (but no need to strip them!), and return any furniture/games to where you found them.

-Our vintage fireplace is non-operational and cannot be used. We do have central heat which works extremely well!

VHR Permit # STR23-8081

Don't just take our word for it—hear from families, groups, and travelers who've stayed with us.

We had an amazing time at Stuga’66! The home was perfectly located with incredible views and just the right amount of privacy. April and team were wonderful communicators, and checking in and out was a breeze. The home had everything we needed, from an extremely well-stocked kitchen (which was perfect for cooking all our meals) to games/books/puzzles to keep us entertained. It was also very walkable, and we enjoyed taking the family and dogs down to the lake and to the local coffee/pastry shop. We had a great time and would highly recommend this to anyone in search of a relaxing Tahoe getaway!

Amazing views of the forest, lake and mountains from our massive wall of windows. Winter or summer, you'll love the views!

What a gem! The house is beautifully bright — unusually so for Tahoe — with lovely views and a serene, almost retreat-like atmosphere. The attention to the design & detail is remarkable: hand cream in every bathroom, games for the kids, every little touch thoughtfully placed so you never have to look for anything. We hit major storms on the way up and the host was so accommodating and easy to communicate with throughout. That flexibility made all the difference. Highly recommend. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay 🙏🏻

Our group of four adults was so comfortable in Stuga 66 over the holiday. This classic vintage A-frame had so many thoughtful modern comforts. The main living/dining area was lovely to spend time in, with its huge windows and views. The pretty kitchen was stocked with everything one could need, and we appreciated the nice coffee maker/grinder to make excellent coffee before skiing. The mattresses/pillows were so comfortable. Big bonuses were the pristine saline spa (great jets!) and use of Peloton treadmill (love when a rental offers fitness equipment!) As a part-time local for 30 years, I can emphasize the convenience of the home's location (near shuttle stop, walk to lake, close to town, bike/walking path access). Hosts were friendly and responsive and we'd recommend this home to anyone looking for a great stay!

Highly recommend! When we were thinking of booking it, the photos looked amazing, but we figured they were probably just really good marketing. But wow, when we arrived, the place totally exceeded our expectations! The cabin has such a peaceful, calming vibe – super quiet, clean, and you even get a view of the lake and mountains. The hot tub was a big plus, especially since we went during cold weather – perfect for relaxing. The kitchen is functional and they thought of almost everything, the only thing they need to get is a new toaster and some more spices for the pantry for when guests will be cooking a lot. There are plenty of restaurants and a grocery store nearby, which made things super convenient. We brought our dog along, and there’s a small dog park about 7–10 minutes away, which was great. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely stay here again!

Don’t have enough words to express how stunning this home is, truly. April (and team) were kind, clear, concise, helpful, and warm; their home is exactly the same. Cozy downstairs area that we spent most of our time in, comfortable beds, attention to detail (the dark wash cloth for my makeup girls!), plenty of kitchen amenities, great glassware (I hate a small coffee cup, theirs were GREAT), walkable beach access—everything I wanted our trip to be we received 10 fold because we chose this home. Our kids loved the A-frame shape and kept calling it “our new home” haha! A testament to how welcoming they’ve made it. We look forward to coming back here for years to come, especially to enjoy the hot tub under the stars again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

10/10 would recommend! Beautiful, light-filled home in the perfect location. It's quiet and private, but with access to everything you could want! We loved walking at the nearby trail, lounging in the comfy living room and ending the day in the hot tub. The hosts were so friendly, accommodating and quick to respond. We would love to come back!

We had a great stay here, the place is bright and has been nicely remodeled so it feels fresh and inviting. It's located within walking distance of a beach which was great. Enjoyed eating outside on the deck and soaking in the hot tub. Check in was easy and the host communicated well. Would stay again!
