The Perfect Tahoe Weekend, Any Time of Year

No matter which of our homes you're staying in or what month you arrive, Tahoe has a way of delivering the perfect weekend. Below is our go-to itinerary built entirely around our local favorites that are open and ready for you 365 days a year. Day One is for getting out and exploring. Day Two is for slowing down and savoring it. Looking for something season-specific? We've added a few of our favorite summer and winter activities at the end. Your perfect Tahoe weekend starts here!

Day One: Go Explore

Morning: Coffee at Cuppa Tahoe

Start easy. Cuppa Tahoe is South Lake's award-winning bookstore cafe, the kind of place where you grab a coffee and a pastry and end up browsing the shelves longer than planned. It's the perfect low-key way to wake the group up before a more active afternoon.

Late Morning: Climb at Blue Granite

Once everyone's caffeinated, head to Blue Granite Climbing. No experience needed and no gear required: just show up and climb. Owners Gianna and Brad have built a genuinely welcoming gym for first-timers, kids (ages 5+), and seasoned climbers alike. Staff makes sure everyone knows what they're doing before they head up, and it's a great way to get the whole group moving together, rain, shine, or snow.

Afternoon: Two Wheels with Tahoe Bike Co

Head over to Tahoe Bike Co on Harrison Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. They can get you rolling on two wheels to explore quiet neighborhoods, forest paths, and lakeside beaches without ever loading a bike into a car. Justine and Marlon run the largest bike selection on the South Shore, with everything from comfort cruisers to e-bikes, cargo bikes for hauling gear, and trailers and tandems for families. Never ridden an e-bike before? Their team gets you comfortable before you head out. Ride to Baldwin Beach in under an hour, loop through the Upper Truckee Marsh to Taylor Creek, or take the shaded forest route to Camp Richardson for ice cream.

And the shop doesn't slow down once the snow flies. While summer means cruisers and e-bikes, Tahoe Bike Co transitions into a full-fledged winter sports outfitter, with fat-tire snow bikes alongside skis, snowboards, cross-country ski gear, snowshoes, and sleds, including kids' gear. One shop, every season.

Evening: Dinner at Cascade Kitchens

Wrap day one at Cascade Kitchens, South Lake Tahoe's first food hall. Seven local restaurants under one roof means everyone in your group gets exactly what they're craving, from smoky street tacos to comfort food, plus drinks at The Thirsty Bear if you want to linger.

Day Two: Slow Down and Savor

Morning: Bagels at Tahoe Bagel Co

Fuel up with Tahoe Bagel Co, founded by brothers Jeff and Justin Kaplan, these bagels are baked fresh daily with the kind of East Coast tradition that keeps locals coming back. Grab the BLT on an Egg Everything Bagel (a certified April favorite), the Lox with smoked Nova and fresh dill, or the Pastrami for pure NY deli perfection. Either South Lake location, Al Tahoe Boulevard or Kingsbury Grade, gets busy, so go early to avoid the crowds!

Midday: Refuel at Paddle House Brews

Give the morning some breathing room, then post up at Paddle House Brews. Owner Tanya has built exactly what Tahoe needed: great coffee and kombucha, cold craft beer once the taproom opens at 3pm, and a laid-back patio with fire pits and cornhole that doesn't try too hard because it doesn't have to. It's dog friendly, so bring the pup along.

Afternoon: Recharge at OMNI Tahoe

Before dinner, stretch it out at OMNI Tahoe. Infrared hot yoga, a full gym, a steam room for recovery, and welcoming instructors who make everyone feel at home. Drop-ins and class packs make it easy to fit into a weekend, whether you want to flow, lift, steam, or simply slow down.

Evening: Sunset Dinner at Riva Grill on the Lake

Close the weekend at Riva Grill on the Lake, sitting right on the water at Ski Run Marina. Arrive just before sunset to catch the alpenglow, and don't leave without a Wet Woody, which also comes in a mocktail version so everyone in your group can join in. Cozy, lively, and full of Tahoe charm, it's the perfect way to wind down on the lake. The summer mights are lively with a full patio and great people watching, and the winter evenings feature local musicians playing next to a roaring fire.

Make It Seasonal

The itinerary above works whenever you're here. But two of our absolute favorite Tahoe experiences are seasonal, and they're worth carving out a slot for in your weekend. Here's how we'd swap them in.

Winter: Snowshoe with Tahoe Adventure Company

When the storms roll in, snowshoe season is on. Tahoe Adventure Company has spent over 20 years turning snowy Sierra trails into unforgettable winter experiences, no experience necessary. Swap this in for Day One's afternoon bike ride, or better yet, add their Full Moon Snowshoe Tour (offered twice a month) as an après-ski plan before your Day One dinner at Cascade Kitchens. Bundle up, snowshoe beneath the stars, and experience Tahoe's winter in a whole new way.

Summer: Clear Kayak with Clearly Tahoe

Once the lake opens up, get on the water with Clearly Tahoe. Founded by Kelsey and Geoff in 2016, they run clear kayak tours from three locations around the basin (Incline Village, Zephyr Cove, and South Lake Tahoe), so wherever you're staying, you're never far from a launch point. Swap this in for Day Two's midday stop at Paddle House Brews, an early morning paddle beats the wind and the crowds. Or, if you have the time, make the Clearly Explorer its own half day: a three hour experience that blends a scenic boat cruise with a guided clear kayak paddle through Emerald Bay, granite cliffs, water clear to the bottom, snacks and a restroom onboard included.

Whichever season brings you to Tahoe, we hope this weekend gives you a taste of why we love it here so much. Reach out to us directly whenever you're ready to book your stay.
