Year in review: A look back at Modern Mountain Vacations best year yet!

Thoughtful Hospitality in Tahoe: Experience a Better Vacation at the Lake

With the first week of 2026 behind us, we are taking a look at the past year at Modern Mountain Vacations and reflecting on the amazing time we had welcoming guests from all over the world!

This year, we hosted guests from as far away as Greece, Tel Aviv, France, and Gembrook, Australia (not to be confused with Glenbrook, Nevada, which is where The Tahoe Lodge is located!). We also welcomed visitors from just a few miles away in Zephyr Cove, making our Tahoe homes perfect for both staycations and trips of a lifetime.

While every season is wonderful for hosting in Tahoe, the winter holiday season remains one of our favorites. Many of our guests visit Lake Tahoe to experience snow for the first time, to celebrate together after years apart, or to learn to ski or snowboard as a family. This year was no different. In December, we welcomed groups who traveled from as far away as France, Australia, and Louisiana, and they all experienced an epic Christmas Day snowstorm that left Tahoe blanketed with three feet of fresh snow.

We loved receiving notes in our guestbooks and snapshots of the massive snow people our guests created. These are the kinds of memories we care about preserving through thoughtful hospitality, intentional design, and the warm, guest-centered service we are known for.

What Was New in 2025

This year, we designed and completed the remodel of The Après Stay, our newest listing in Palisades Tahoe. This slopeside condo was refreshed with a brand-new kitchen and bathrooms, high-quality linens, and post-adventure relaxation in mind. Guests can unwind in style after skiing or hiking, enjoy quality time together, and feel at home in the mountains, surrounded by incredible views of one of Tahoe’s premier ski runs, KT-22.

We also welcomed Tahoe Black Cabin into The Tahoe Collection as one of our owner-occupied homes. Availability is limited, but the experience is deeply authentic. Like Stuga ’66, it offers a true Tahoe cabin feel. Care, personality, and mountain character are at the heart of your stay. You will truly feel like you are living in Lake Tahoe, without having to pay the utility bills or do your own snow removal.

Across our portfolio, we continued to host a mix of guests from California, Texas, Mexico, and many other states and countries. We welcomed drive-in travelers, seasonal visitors, long-stay international guests, and several repeat guests who return year after year because of the experiences and care they receive with Modern Mountain Vacations.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Tor has been working on a new build that will join The Tahoe Collection this spring. Developed in collaboration with local builders C. Hurst and renowned designer Mary Beth, this project brings something new to our portfolio. It features brand-new construction, a highly walkable location near restaurants and the center of town, and close proximity to Lake Tahoe. Stay tuned.

We are also expanding direct booking across nearly all of our homes in 2026. This allows us to offer guests the best available rates while helping our homeowners reduce reliance on large booking platforms, while maintaining the same level of personal hospitality Modern Mountain Vacations is known for.
